The card was presented to honourable Principal Ma’am and all the teachers. Everybody appreciated the efforts of the house by signing the diwali card with blessings.

JANJATIYA GAURAV DIVAS CELEBRATION 

The house celebrated ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ with enthusiasm and fervour on 25th November 2023, Saturday. During the morning assembly, honourable Principal ma'am, Ms Seema Agarwal highlighted the significant role played by Bhagwan Birsa Munda in the lives of the tribal people of Jharkhand. 

A Power Point presentation based on the life and contributions of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the legendary freedom fighter, was shown to all the students in their respective classrooms.

An interesting and creative slogan writing activity was conducted on the same theme. The students prepared colourful slogans with tribal art on the borders.

In a nutshell, the students recognised and appreciated the sacrifices made by Bhagwan Birsa Munda on the eve of his birth anniversary.

 We are determined to end poverty and hunger in all forms and ensure dignity and equality.

 

WORKING TOGETHER FOR SUSTAINABILITY

1. CHARACTERISTICS

·         passion for social justice, equality, and human rights. 

·         recognizing the complex web of factors that contribute to poverty and hunger

·         poverty is not just about income but also encompasses issues such as food insecurity, lack of access to healthcare, poor housing conditions, and limited educational opportunities

·         need to foster a culture of empathy, generosity, and solidarity. 

·         Willingness to stand with the most vulnerable

·         work together to build a more equitable and sustainable future for all

·         engaging in dialogue with marginalized communities to better understand their needs and perspectives

·          advocating for policy changes at local and national levels

To achieve these goals, we need to take concrete actions such as:

• increasing funding for education and healthcare services
• implementing policies and programs that support women's empowerment and gender equality
• promoting sustainable agriculture practices and conservation efforts
• strengthening social safety nets for vulnerable populations.

4. PROBLEM STATEMENT (with statistics):

Despite progress in reducing poverty and hunger in recent years, the problem remains widespread and persistent. As of 2021, around 736 million people, or 9.2% of the world's population, live in extreme poverty, and over 690 million people suffer from hunger. Children are particularly affected, with 144 million experiencing stunting due to malnutrition.

These statistics are not just numbers; they represent real people with real struggles and aspirations. To truly end poverty and hunger, we need to recognize the human face of these challenges and work together to create a more just and equitable world.

5. SOLUTION

The solution requires tailored approaches that take into account the unique needs and contexts of different communities. Here are some common strategies that have proven effective in addressing poverty and hunger:

a.                 Creating job opportunities, especially in sectors that employ large numbers of low-income workers, such as agriculture and manufacturing.         

                            

                            

b.                Empowering women and girls through policies and programs that increase their access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. This includes providing menstrual hygiene products, ensuring access to family planning services, and eliminating gender-based violence and discrimination.

d.                Increasing funding for social welfare programmes, including cash transfers and food subsidies, and targeting those who are most in need.  

e. Promoting land tenure reform, sustainable agriculture practices, and conservation efforts that not only preserve the environment but also benefit local communities.

f. Building more schools and health clinics, providing scholarships and bursaries, and training more healthcare workers to provide quality care.

                             

6.ACTION PLAN PREPARED BY STUDENTS ENLISTING POTENTIAL 

    STEPS:

As students, we have a critical role to play in addressing poverty and hunger. The following steps would be taken:

•  raising awareness about these issues, both in our communities and on social media. 
• participate in local organizations like ROTI BANK and campaigns that work to combat poverty and hunger.

•  Support policy changes by writing letters to our elected representatives, participating in marches and demonstrations, and advocating for policies that promote social justice and equality.
• Making individual lifestyle changes that reduce our impact on the environment and support fair labour practices. This includes buying products from ethical and sustainable sources, reducing food waste, and supporting local NGOs.
